ISLAMORADA

The Village of Islamorada is one of the most famous locations in all the Florida Keys. Known as

the “Sportfishing Capital of the World,” Islamorada has been the destination for offshore and

flats fishing enthusiasts from Ernest Hemingway and Ted Williams to Harry Truman and George

W. Bush, and everyone in between. Evolved from its infamous historical roots as a haven for

pirates and drug smugglers, Islamorada now boasts some of the most luxurious hotels, homes

and rental properties in the country. Islamorada is home to a renowned restaurant and dining

scene that includes Chef Michael’s, Square Grouper, Ziggy and Mad Dogs, Kaiyo, Pierre’s and

more. Also in Islamorada are some of the best and most beloved casual dockside restaurants and

bars like Lorelei, Green Turtle, Lazy Days and Morada Bay. The area is also known for its

wonderful art scene, anchored by such renowned artists as Elena Madden, Lisa Lee and Roberto

“Pasta” Pantaleo. The celebrated “Art Walk Islamorada” is held every third Thursday of the

month, where locals and visitors can stroll around the heart of the Village and peruse artist’s

offerings as they snack on street food and enjoy a cold beer from Islamorada Beer Company or

sip a signature tropical margarita from a local cocktail truck.

Legendary fishing guides from such well-known Islamorada marinas as Lorelei and Bud ‘n

Mary’s take anglers on adventures of a lifetime as they chase migrating tarpon, stalk tailing

bonefish or attempt to land the elusive permit. For family adventures, Islamorada is well located

within easy driving distance from Theater of the Sea, the Marathon Turtle Hospital, the Dolphin

Research Center where guests can swim with the dolphins, and Robbie’s where visitors can feed

the tarpon by hand at the dock. Water sport operators are plentiful and offer SCUBA and

snorkeling charters, paddle board excursions, kayaking eco-tours, boat rentals, jet skiing trips

and guided tours to the world-famous Islamorada sand bar.

Islamorada is situated approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes from Miami Airport, and is also

reachable by private aircraft at Marathon Airport located approximately 35 minutes from the center of the Village.
